We believe all quilts should be quilted and should reflect the period and style of its origin.
That's why we spend considerable time listening to each client's specific goals researching patterns, styles and fabrics to recreate as close to the original intent as possible. Time has shown that the tying of comforters distorts and stresses antique fabrics. The advent of the sewing maching in 1850 did allow for machine quilting on
some 19th century quilts however most were still hand quilted as not every home could afford the fancy machine.
Our team is skilled at educating our customers about the "standards" of quilt restoration.
We work closely with AQS, The Quilt Index, The Alliance for American Quilts and the American Quilt study group about the traditions and appraisal standards that affect the value of quilts. We also have a deep commitment to preserving the provenance and legacy of quilts.
